Meet the Management Team of Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Centers:
Richard joins Chronicity, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer where he will oversee all aspects of running a multi-product, national healthcare organization. He previously held the position of Executive Chairman for Chronicity for the last 18 months utilizing a ‘hands on’ approach which will allow him to bring the operational expertise necessary for future growth of Chronicity.
Richard comes to Chronicity from Chrysalis Ventures which he joined in 2007, initially as Executive-in-Residence and six months later as Operating Partner. He provided operational expertise and assistance with portfolio companies within the healthcare and technology sectors.
Richard has over 20 years of experience in healthcare analytics and modeling, health services research, product development and healthcare IT, and has published more than 80 articles in national and industry publications. He was CEO and President of CorSolutions from 2001 to 2005, the nation’s second largest disease management company, until it was acquired by Matria Healthcare. In 2004, he was recognized as one of the top 10 disease management executives by Managed Healthcare Magazine. Prior to CorSolutions, Richard was Vice President for Population Health Improvement at Humana Inc., an internal consulting function which oversaw disease management program development and investments. Previously, he led Wake Forest University Medical Center’s Resource Utilization and Outcomes Management Department in the development of programs to improve efficiency for integrated delivery systems while also serving as Associate Professor of Pathology and as Associate Director of the Health Services Research Center.
Richard has a BA from Wake Forest University, an MA from University of Chicago and an MD from Wake Forest University.
Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D - Medical Director
Board certified internist and best-selling author, Dr. Joseph Teitelbaum serves as Medical Director for the specialized treatment of Fibromyalgia and fatigue-related conditions. Dr. Teitelbuam's research and innovative approach led him to author a landmark study on effective treatment for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia; the results were published in the Journal of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (8:2, 2001). This gold standard research showed his comprehensive medical approach resulted in 79% of those treated with the protocol showed improvement of some degree and 37% showed substantial improvement. Long term follow-up of nearly 2 years showed 86% of participants improved (see the study at www.endfatigue.com). Dr. Teitelbaum's work has also been discussed in the Journal of the American Academy of Pain Management, in which his integrative treatment protocol was recognized as "standard of practice" for chronic pain conditions.
Dr. Teitelbaum knows about chronic pain as an insider. He contracted Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 1975 while he was a student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and had to take a leave of absence for a year to recover. In the ensuing years, he dedicated his career to developing, researching and teaching about effective treatment and founded the Center for Effective Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome/Fibromyalgia Therapies in Annapolis, Maryland.
Dr. Teitelbaum received his medical degree from the Medical School at Ohio State University. In 1980, he became Board Certified in Internal Medicine. For over two decades, he has worked with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients, and has a specialized practice in Annapolis, Maryland. He continues to lecture to patient and physician/research groups internationally.
